Thank you so much for looking after our house and the monsters that live there!
This page should include everything you need to know while we're away.
There are 2 types of food (turkey and chicken), it doesn't matter which you feed them! They're in sealed packets in the freezer. Each kitty gets half a packet, once a day at about 9pm.
Take the packet out of the fridge and replace it with a new one from the freezer, it should defrost by the next day.
Squish the packet into halves and cut across the middle, and then use a spoon to put each half onto a cat dish or sandwich plate.
Clean and disinfect the kitchen counter and scissors afterwards, and if they walk away from their food without eating it all you can try adding treats into it or put it in the fridge for a bit and try again later.
Hailey is on medication for her seizures and takes half a pill three times a day. We try to space them out to at least 6 hours apart, but if that's not possible it's better to have them closer together than to miss a dose.
There is a pill cutter and pill case in the cupboard above the sink, we usually cut and refill on Sunday mornings for the week. She's very good about taking her meds! Just squish the half pill into a pill pocket. I usually give her and Stormy extra treats at meds time too so Stormy doesn't feel left out.
We have a monthly amazon subscription for pill pockets and disinfecting spray, so you'll probably receive an amazon package with more near the end of December or the first couple of days of January.
Hailey very rarely has seizures these days, but in the event that she does just try to keep her calm, let her ride it out and give her gentle pets until she comes out of it (usually a couple of minutes). She may pee herself and whatever she's laying on as well, there's some enzymatic cleaner under the kitchen sink if that happens.
The litter we use is natural wood pellets and works a little differently from regular litter. When the kitties pee on it, the pellets disintegrate into sawdust, so it requires "reverse scooping":
Put a plastic grocery bag (found in the front hall closet) into the little garbage can in the litter box cabinet
Scoop out any large areas of sawdust and poop
For the rest I scoop up a bunch of litter, shake it over the garbage can to get all the sawdust filtered out, and then toss the unused pellets back into the litter box.
The dirty litter can be tossed into the regular garbage.
