Thank you so much for looking after our house and the monsters that live there!
This page should include everything you need to know while we're away.
There are 2 types of canned food (turkey and salmon or chicken), it doesn't matter which you feed them! They typically get one can each, once per day. You can toss the cans in the garbage and we'll take them out when we get back.
There are cat dishes in the cupboard above the keurig, you can also use paper plates or regular plates once you've used them all.
It's very common for the cats to turn their noses up at their food while we're away. They tend to get a bit stressed and anxious, but they'll eat it when they're hungry.
Hailey is on medication for her seizures and takes half a pill once per day.
There is a 4-week pill case in the cupboard above the sink, we've pre-cut enough pills to last through our trip.
Hailey will take the pills in a pill pocket, but she's gotten really picky lately. We put the pill into a pill pocket and then coat it in Fortiflora. There's a cream cheese container in the cupboard above the sink with Fortiflora powder in it, and more sachets in the basket to the left if it starts to get low. She is VERY slow to take it, and licks it around the floor a bit. She's special like that. Sometimes she's a pain in the butt and licks the Fortiflora off and then looks at you to re-coat it. I'm sure she does it on purpose. I usually re-coat for her, but it can be gross... sorryyyy. She does sometimes get a bit stressed when we're gone and might walk away from it, you might need to give her some time to relax and then try again. I find it does help to give her her meds before she eats dinner.
Hailey very rarely has seizures these days, her last one was in February 2025. But in the event that she does just try to keep her calm, let her ride it out and give her gentle pets until she comes out of it (usually a couple of minutes). She may pee herself and whatever she's laying on as well, there's some enzymatic cleaner (Nature's Miracle) in the storage room for cleaning up after her.
The litter box is self-cleaning and only needs to have the litter hopper topped up every few days and the waste drawer emptied when it starts to get full. There is a phone in the storage room with the Whisker app installed that you can use to monitor the levels. It shouldn't lock but if it does the PIN is 1111.
I would recommend emptying the waste bin before it gets to 100%, maybe 90% to be safe. Usually it takes about 9 or 10 days, so you should only need to empty it twice while we're gone. To empty it, pull the foot step out and just tie off the clear plastic bag and double bag it into one of the white garbage bags in the storage room and chuck it in the kitchen garbage.
There is a roll of waste drawer bags on the shelf, when you replace the bag I usually pour a couple tablespoons of silica beads underneath the bag and again in the bottom of the bag to help prevent flies. There is a jug of silica on the shelf next to the litter box. Don't worry about emptying the beads in the bottom of the waste drawer, I usually do that whenever I deep clean the litter box.
There is a litter hopper on the back of the litter robot, squeeze the handle to open the top and top it up with litter when it gets low. It will keep the litter box topped up as it gets used so you should only need to fill it every few days. When you fill it the indicator light will probably go red because the weight has changed. Hit the 'reset' button and it should go back to blue.
Indicator Light Colours:
Blue = Ready, all good
Red = A cat has been here recently or the weight is off balance
Flashing = Either a fault or the waste drawer is full
Yellow cycling = Cycle in progress

There are light switches around if you're not comfortable with voice interaction with the smart home stuff, but if you do want to give it a whirl some instructions are below. There is a small two-button remote on the side of the coffee table that turns the fireplace on and off, though there is a 1-3 second delay.
There is also an automation set up that turns the fireplace on when the livingroom gets below 22 degrees and turns it back off when it hits 25 to keep the cats warm. So if you show up one day and the fire is on, it probably turned itself on!
Feel free to use the Google TV remote to watch stuff, we have basically everything on our Plex server if you wanted to watch anything, just turn the TV on and hit the Plex button!
